I hate the stupid connections they’re trying to make when the books and games do it perfectly already. I don’t know why they are trying so hard to alter the themes. I thought that was the direction with Ciri too after they disrespected the hell out of Eskel painting him as this villain. Witchers fulfill their duty by their code and because their destiny was chosen for them, and they don’t act based on what they want but rather what they must do which made me furious when Vesemir talked about creating more witchers as if he’s proud.
Also, why are there all these witchers at Kaer Morhen? Maybe I missed something reading but I don’t recall any witchers outside of Coen, Eskel, Lambert, Geralt and Vesemir so I was confused to see all those witchers in the keep. They were not meaningful to the plot at all and watered down the experience of being a witcher imo. They’re meant to be scarce and ominous, not making KM a party venue and allowing anyone to come steal their secrets.
The Netflix desecration of Sapkowski's characters and subtle morality really is jaw droppingly degrading and just so fucking objectively stupid even on its own moronic pap-culture terms.
Thing is, this new story that, yes, at least thankfully stopped masquerading as The Witcher lacks anything resembling coherency, logic or common sense; let alone things like quality of characterization or dialogue. It's like some 11-year-old got into his mom's vodka cash, drank the whole thing in one go and for whatever reason decided to write down his stray thoughts, managing it just before he had to go barf his guts out and fall dead asleep, to firmly forget the whole thing in the morning.
I wonder if the showrunner ever had any intention to adapt the books.
That made me sad for all the potential that was wasted on this shw The Witcher Netflix.
I'm so sad to read (I'm not watching this shit) about what the did to such complex and interesting characters. Completely butchered Yen and Vesemir… There's no way I would ever watch this now.
The Witcher, The Elder Scrolls, Assassin's Creed and Dragon Age. Some of the best franchises of all time.
Everything wrong with main characters – season 2 summary (SPOILERS)
So after seeing season 2 which I really tried to approach as objectively as I could from the begining, I…am dissapointed and confused beyond my mind. They took the source material and twisted half of it and than replaced other half of it by badly executed fan fiction.
And because I see lot of "show is not supposed to be 100% adaptation", let me present you arguments how much were changed (butchered) some MAIN characters and why this argument is utter nonsense.
Please be aware this contains SPOILERS:
Jaskier – almost most favourite character gets the least screen time and he is introduced as secret elves smuggler, who delivers the speach "first they came for elves, than they will came for artists"??? Was this supposed to be some kind of parody or is Jaskier suddenly M.L.King? We know Jaskier has heart of gold but he is coward and therefore I doubt he would be smuggling people. But no problem, let's just add another meaningless scene where he is arguing with some dock guy (who represents audience) how stupid he is and that he should write his own songs but he would suck anyway (ironic?).
Yennefer – WHERE DO I BEGIN. So she wipes out half of Sodden because of fire magic (why not) just to loose her magic power (why not) which results in her running around the woods, theatrically falling to the knees and screaming (because this would totally cold-faced bitch Yennefer did). Then she is captured by Nilfgaard but they get ambushed by elves with harpoons and than she is captured again and again, but she manages to return to Aretuza. Ok here begins the 'fuck everyone who though we are adapting Witcher'. She is supposed to execute Cahir to prove… she is not Nilfaardian spy?? Ok, but guess what, she doesnt give a fuck and frees him in front of FOUR KINGS AND WIZARDS and than casually escapes on horse. She teams up with Jaskier who is captured by Rience, but oh no, she can't use magic so let's just pretend I am drunk Jaskier's wife because that will trick powerful villain wizard, BAM IT WORKED, EASY.
Witchers – so we have these tough guys who live in the mountains lonely and don't treat Ciri well because they don't know any better. WRONG, they are just assholes who are trying to discourage Ciri from training because she is not enough, also why not throw this giant houseparty with hookers because we can just get them to this secret abandoned place no problem. And regarding papa Vesemir, he gets the ingredients for making new mutagens for Witchers so just let's inject this shit to Ciri! I am sure Geralt will be fine if she dies, also uups my mutagen is now stolen because Rience suddenly teleported to the Kaer Morhen and took it, haha.
Roach – well we killed most characters spirits anyway and viewers souls too, so why not just literally kill Roach also because this will be nice summery of fuck you to all fanbase, who by accident might be watching this.
the console port of the first witcher game was never released
So far, I'm on the fifth episode, and I'm left with no words to say. I cannot express my full dislike of this defecation. Lauren & Co is beyond a disgrace to this franchise. These kinds of shows and movies create a misconception in people's minds that a faithful adaptation is impossible. I will stand by Alan Moore's words about adaptations. What was the point of borrowing the book if you are not going to follow it in any capacity? What's the point if none of the messages & ideologies of the original is represented at all? Why was every single character raped and tainted to such a degree? Inability (and scenario impotence) to tell their own story creates such terrible adaptations. The only thing left is a brand name. A brand name that will gather the shiteater mass crowd.
Games
Games 4 life
Picked up a new PC around the time Assassins of Kings received its Enhanced Edition, and as there was a lot of talk about how demanding the graphics were I decided to get it and play it. Then I tried Witcher 1… that was tough to get through 🤣 that game could definitely do with a remaster
Netflix adaptation sucks.
What a shame,Netflix series had so much potential with henry cavil as leading role,it could have been next lotr but Lauren and rest of the crew do not give a fuck about pre existing world, rules and most importantly milions of fans that were emersed into the world before the TV series.
Got in from the games, read all the books, and then the show premiered.
For anyone interested, The Witcher 3, GOTY is on sale on epic, I think it was $ 4.50
you put pictures of witcher 3 game and witcher series and call it evolution in the title… I didn't saw anything so sad sience ma father died XD
Saw the announcement for the first game in a magazine, went and found “The Last Wish” at Borders and read it cover to cover. Got the game when it came out, enjoyed it well enough. Got the second game, and really thought it was great (other than Letho). Read Sword of Destiny next, and hated Yennefer, and didn’t care enough to keep following the books. Played Witcher III and honesty think it may be the best game ever made, even if I found Hearts of Stone vastly disappointing. I started reading the series, going through Blood to Elves and Time of Contempt, but even though I own them all digitally I haven’t read any of them in about four years. I’ve so far enjoyed the show.
Books in 2008 from a buddy who was stationed in Poland. The just translated the books to English.
Tried Witcher 2 but the tutorial was so boring. Witcher 3 is where I finally became a fan.
Still not on with Henry Cavill as Geralt. Too polished.
The evolution of The Witcher went from Cool, even better, awesome, to what it is now………crap.
The newest tabletop RPG is excellent as well. Very tactical, gives social encounters love n is growing.
I’ve read all the books.. now The games are my gateway from the shitshow from Netflix.
Netflix Witcher is a devolution. All people praising the netflix show do really have lowest expectations. What a disaster. The only good things in this show are Henry and fight scenes, the rest is boring, trivial, chaotic, generic, sterile, and, and, and.
I love the books
Note: The Console port of the first game (titled Rise of the White Wolf) was never finished and was abandoned. Assassins of Kings was the first Witcher game to get a console port.
Was that him on set? That's awsome
Got into the Witcher through the game The Witcher 3 , which is one of my favorite games all time!
More like devolution when it comes to Netflix' fan fiction.
I first got into The Witcher from the Netflix series. I saw the trailer and was hooked ❤️
For the fans of the Witcher I recommend the Amazon prime serie the wheel of time
You should mantion the fact that the author who hated CDProject Red and hates video games, after seeing the success of the Witcher3 sued the game company for more money and the idi…ts actually paid him.
I’m tired of waiting for the next gen patch for Witcher 3 before starting another playthrough. Glad the One X got an enhancement so i can enjoy a 60fps mode on the Series X
What console port of the first game? 😂
"Slavic mythy" there, there's the thing. Butt no, Holywood need to be woke. Forced inclusivity is a must. Because inclusivity is the thing that guarantee success in Holywood amirite?
Got in from the games, discovered the books, and then the music of Perceval (Schuttenbach), who performed much of the soundtrack of Wild Hunt.
I get to The Witcher through game. Played all 3 +dlc-s and liked it
What is the cinematics of the woman hanging from?
Even if for me Henry looks to young for the Witcher (i would prefer someone like the one from the Witcher 3), its still a good show
Did hissrich toss u enough coin for this? Oh take your tongue out of their agenda asses already and have a hint of self respect. Ewwww disgusting
I first saw the old polish tv show back in 2005 I think? I really fell for the universe in 2016 when playing the Witcher 3 goty edition though.
