Talking about SM7B – when do you use it with the popfilter 'off' like in this video but with an external pop filter (or whatever you want to call it) and when do you use it with the integrated popfilter? Thinking both clean and growly vokal cases.
And what about if you use it on a guitar cabinet? would you leave the filter on or off?

As you might be able to tell I am a recent owner of an SM7B 😀

First off- stoked to see this being done in Cubase. It’s hard to find any high level content around Cubase.

But I’d have to say that the Lewitt is the clear winner. And that’s not even taking advantage of all the features of the Lewitt that the other mic’s don’t have. Now if only I had .. well whatever the dollar to euro exchange is haha.

*edit- I had to break out my Audeze LCD-XC to really take a good listen here.

OMG! I've learned so much right now. I need back to the album that I'm mixing last time and try another microphone (we recorded 3).

Prefer the other two's over the Lewitt in this case. The all in one concept seems gimicky to me. Better have different mics IMHO

Amazing video as always! Would love a video where you return to the world of guitar speakers, specifically where you explore speakers with neodymium magnets! 😃😃

Is it common to use different mics for clean and screaming vocals in a metal song? Like a screaming verse and then clean chorus for example… all one mic?

Wow. Super cool mic. Amazing vocals and song. I always come for the dangle and the chugga of course, but what a breath of fresh air. Love this channel. The vibe, the ethos, the balance of precision and rock n roll. I’m constantly trying things I learn here. Thank you for all the quality stuff man, seriously.

Oh! And the versatility of the lewitt kinda makes it an unfair fight. Super impressed with the airy qualities in tube mode. Not so much transistor mode. But something about that RNT that sounds heavenly.

But do we want the Lewitt over excited high ends? I'd rather stick to a mic with silky controlled high ends.😊

you have great hearing!!! i use a 940 lewitt – fantastic – don't need what this 1040 has, the 940 is brilliant anyway. j.

Well done Kohle. Thank you!! The lewitt was my favorite for sure- mostly because of the versatility of it. All of the mics were excellent though.

I have a sm7b and I love it but what would be a better vocal mic for Radio Hard Rock like Three Days Grace, Staind, Nickel Back and singer like that? I was looking at the warm audio 87 and 67? Price rang $800 to $2k

Surely it should be sung 'i never get you out of my head?' rather than 'i never get shoe out of my head?'

Anyone wanna see what Kohle can do with cheap Amazon mics now!?!! John Brown did one with a 15 dollar mic and he made it sound amazing so it inspired me to stop making excuses and record.
